The film deals with the sad stories and tales of Somali families fleeing the horrors of famine that swept Somalia coinciding with the civil war and the collapse of the central government, especially the famines of 1992 and 2011. The film stands on the causes and consequences of famines and their clear manifestations in the reality of people’s lives and their environment. We live with these families the stories of escape.
From hunger and leaving their villages, which were hit by drought and ravaged by war, to displacement and asylum camps in the capital, Mogadishu, and in Dadao, in neighboring Kenya, where they formed one of the largest Somali refugee camps in the world.
The film depicts aspects of the hardships of living inside the camps, mixed with the memories of the arduous escape journey during which families lost their children and loved ones after they died of starvation while they were trying to escape from his ghost while they were under showers of bullets and hungry, empty bellies. The film lives with refugees and displaced persons trying to return to their villages and rearrange their conditions livelihood, but they collide with the obstacles of insecurity due to the continuation of the civil war, to carry within them the atmosphere of memories of hunger and its apparent effects on them despite the successive years.
